What is computer literacy at JMS all about?
Computer literacy is one of the most important classes that your child will ever have. Computers are everywhere. From handheld phones to tablets, most likely your child uses technology on a daily basis. I designed this course so that when students leave, they know how to develop papers for core subject areas and have a deeper understanding of cloud computing and multimedia development. Each student has access to their own Google Drive account. Students no longer need to worry about losing a project. Activities started at school are saved automatically in Google Docs and can be picked up at home, right where the student left off. From most Internet connected devices, students can work on projects, regardless of their location and without the need to purchase or install any software. Most importantly, students are learning about how cloud computing can help them to become for efficient. In addition to Google Drive, Microsoft Word 2010 is also incorporated into the course so that students can make the connection between Google Docs and Microsoft Word...enabling them to be well-rounded in document development. Students also develop multimedia activities with Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, which includes a fully functioning Jeopardy type game and a presentation on a future career. Keyboarding integration has also been added, in order to give students the opportunity to improve their keyboarding skills.
